UEFA European Under 17 Championship Bulgaria 2015

This is a yearly championship organized by UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) and contested by 16 European national teams. Players born after January 1st, 1998 will be able to participate in this edition.

From 1982 to 2001 it was an Under 16 Championship. During odd years it determined what teams would qualify for the next Under 17 FIFA World Cup. This edition, 6 teams will qualify for the Chile 2015 Under 17 FIFA World Cup (17 October-8 November): the four semifinalists and two of the losers of the quarter finals.

This is the first time since 2002 that 16 teams participate.  After that year UEFA decided to decrease the number of participants to 8 teams.

The 14th edition will be played in Bulgaria from May 6-22 2015 in four different cities: Stara Zagora, Sliven, Burgas and Sopozol.

England won the last tournament in Malta 2014 against The Netherlands. Here you can see the rest of the winners:

Four groups of four teams each compose the tournament. During the group-stage every team will play against the other three teams in its group (3 points for victory, 1 point for tie, and 0 points for loss). The first two teams of every group will qualify for Quarter Finals.
